Events

Along with writing / acting / and directing, I also organize events that range from curated screenings to interactive plays. A lot of these events were made in collaboration with the art collective at LaunchPad.

Upcoming Events:

The "Don't Be Like Roy" Campaign -- Table Read | Monday, October 13th, 2014 | Videology
A table reading / fundraiser for my new feature-length script, The "Don't Be Like Roy" Campaign, "a dark comedy in which a controlling woman struggles with her delusion that her new lover is turning into her ex-boyfriend Roy. While Natalie is hellbent on preventing the past from repeating, Roy is desperately trying to stop the past from disappearing as the last union projectionist in New York City." Most of the cast will be present!

Past Events:

There, Not There Film Festival | June 20th - 23rd, 2014 |Hullabaloo Books
"There, Not There is a traveling film festival and archive which will be screened in Bucharest, Cairo, and Berlin--- It starts off on it's travels right here in Crown Heights!" I did not curate this. Five of my pieces will be shown at this event.

Freudian Trip -- Act II | May 31st, 2014 | The Way Station
The Toys and Tiny Instruments present Freudian Trip: a three-part musical saga told through three separate shows on three different nights. Witness a harrowing tale of deceit, perversion, and the drama that unfolds when you rip apart the inner workings of the human mind. This event is brought to you by “Oedipal Arrangements."

Missed the first show? Don't worry - we'll have a recap at the beginning of this episode!

The Haunted Haunt | October 26th, 2013 | LaunchPad
The Haunted Haunt was “a night of chaotic combinations of horrific artistic mayhem,” featuring the NiceFits--a Misfits cover band comprised of the members of Nice Fellas. For one night, LaunchPad was turned into one giant installation with pieces by local artists and home-brewed beer by Honest Pete. Here is a link to details about the event.

Haunted Murder Mystery Beach Party | July 26th, 2013 | LaunchPad
"One year ago legendary boogie-boarder, Chip Rigby, died in a freak accident at the national boogie-boarding championship. Some say that ever since that day his ghost has been haunting LaunchPad trying to solve the mystery of his death, which prevented him taking the championship title in 2012. On July 26th, LaunchPad hosts the 2013 boogie-boarding championship featuring many of the same competitors, who are all suspects in Chip's eyes. Strange vibes are afoot, dudes and dudettes." The Haunted Murder Mystery Beach Party was listed in the print edition of Time Out New York as the #2 event to attend between 7/18 - 7/31. Here is a link to the online write-up.

The “Don’t Be Like Roy” Campaign Screening Series | 2012 - 2013 | LaunchPad
The “Don’t Be Like Roy” Campaign screening series was a supplement to my feature film by the same title. It was a themed art show that took place almost every third Thursday of the month. Each show had a featured artist; sometimes an established artist such as Saul Levine or Ericka Beckman, and other times artists on the cutting edge, such as Cate Giordano or Dan Lucal. It was frequently listed in local news and nonsense NYC.

Strange Birds | January 31st, 2014 | LaunchPad
“Experimental music gets a bad rap for being too academic and inaccessible. Sometimes we forget about the true wierdos whose work is strange but also fun. They don't do what they do for professors, curators and funders - they do it because it's the only thing they can do. Come out to LaunchPad to celebrate and rock out to a group of these strange birds who do awesome things that go way beyond just ‘gigging’.” Here is an article that the Brooklyn Paper wrote on the event, including quotes from an interview with me and my co-curator, Zane. This is a link to general information about the event.

New Year's Eve | December 31st, 2013 | LaunchPad
LaunchPad's New Year’s Eve event, which included a handmade ball that we dropped at midnight and a crafting table where you could design your own champagne glasses, was listed in the print edition of the Village Voice as a top party to attend. Here is a link to the article online.
